A Bar That's Been Part of This Town Since Before You Were Born.
La Playette opened its doors in 1958, back when St. Joseph was even smaller than it is now. Back then, a cold Grain Belt and a game of pool was all you needed after a long day. Sixty-plus years later? Still true.
We're not trying to be anything fancy. We're just a good, honest bar where the drinks are cold, the prices are fair, and the people are real.
Regulars have been coming here for decades. Some of them brought their kids, who are now regulars too. That's the kind of place we are — the kind you don't find much anymore.

Local bands, regional acts, and the occasional surprise. We keep it real — country, rock. September through May we have bands on most Saturdays. Check the events board for upcoming shows.

We do normally charge a $5 cover for Saturday bands.
Yes! September through May we have bands on most Saturdays. We also have Karaoke once a month on Fridays. If there is no Karaoke scheduled, we have DJs on Fridays. Check our events calendar for upcoming shows.

Yes, there is street parking available on College Avenue and in the surrounding area. We are located right on College Avenue across from Gary's Pizza and Bo Didley's.
Under 18 can be in the bar until 9pm if accompanied by an adult. Must be 21 to have alcoholic beverages.
Yes! We have a pool table, darts, and a jukebox. Come in and make yourself at home.
We have frozen Brew Pub pizzas available. You are also welcome to order from Gary's Pizza (garyspizzastjoseph.cuteorder.com) or Bo Didley's Deli (bodiddleysdeli.com) right across the street and eat in the bar.
